Eastside Soccer Player Wins SC Gatorade POY

Payton Nutzman, senior forward/midfielder for Eastside Girls Soccer, has won the 2025 South Carolina Gatorade Player of the year. 

Nutzman helped lead the Eagles to a 19-3 overall record this season and helped them win the 2025 SCHSL 5A-Division 2 Girls Soccer Championship by scoring two goals in the 3-2 overtime win over Chapin. 

Nutzman finished her senior season with 22 games played, 35 goals scored, averaging 1.6 goals per game and 14 assists. In the classroom she maintained a 4.92 GPA and in the community she volunteered localy with the Carolina Relief Project which provided relief after Hurricane Helene. She also donated her time as a lifeguard and swim instructor.

Nutzman will take her academic and soccer talents to Mercer University this fall.
